The litigating partners at The Law Offices of Michael V. Jehdian have tried many, many cases over the years, from straightforward to quite complex. We enjoy a reputation in the Los Angeles County area for being unafraid to go to trial and for our sharp abilities in assessing the merits of cases, all of which favorably increases chances for a just settlement.

Our trial experience includes many cases involving vehicular accidents, injuries from unsafe premises, medical negligence and other instances of negligence causing injury or death.

We provide highly aggressive representation for victims of negligence and their families while maintaining their dignity and protecting their privacy.

If you have been physically hurt by something that another person did, either deliberately or through carelessness, then you have suffered a personal injury, as lawyers say.  Lawyers who handle mainly personal injury cases are commonly known as personal injury lawyers (or PI lawyers.

In this section, we discuss common terms associated with personal injury cases, such as negligence, defenses, the statute of limitations, and witnesses, evidence, and trials.

Your injury could have happened in any of countless ways.  Some of the more common cases arise in the situations such as food-related or drug-related injuries, job-related injuries, and environment-related injuries.

In addition, there can be an injury in the legal sense without bodily harm, such as when you are the victim of intentional harm to your name and reputation (the result of slander or libel) or harm to your property (called property damage).

Negligence and Damages  When another person's carelessness has caused you to suffer a personal injury, you may be entitled to sue that person for negligence, and if you win, you will obtain a judgment for damages.

Negligence is a legal term describing the level or degree of carelessness for which the other person can be held liable, that is, be forced by a court to pay damages to you.

Damages is the legal term for the amount of money that it would be fair for the other person to pay you as reimbursement and compensation because of your injury.

The damages can reimburse you for past and future medical expenses and lost income, if any, and also compensate you for pain and suffering as well as any permanent disability.

The damages also can compensate you if property has to be repaired or replaced (such as clothing, eyeglasses, a watch, or jewelry; or such as a bicycle, motor vehicle, or boat) as an incidental consequence of your injury.
